birdStuff is the brainchild of Larry Nemetz, DVM, (view www.TheBIRDClinic.com for a biography) and Donna Garrou.
Since 1987, Dr Nemetz has recommended healthy food products and safe toys to give his patients a better quality of life. He also recommended foraging toys to keep birds occupied when their owners are away at work. Meantime, Donna was having difficulty finding specialty bird foods, toys with safe metals, and healthy treats for her own birds.
Dr. Nemetz wanted a place where clients could actually find the products he was recommending, along with an educated staff that could demonstrate their use, explain diet conversion, and other concerns related to the health and welfare of pet birds.
Donna wanted a place where customers like her could find toys made by bird lovers instead of the same old mass-marketed products. She also wanted to make sure they were safe enough that she would be happy to use them for her own birds.
Slowly they began to realize that the only way this could exist is if they created it themselves!
A plan was "hatched" to do just that, and birdStuff was created in Orange CA in 2004. Since that time, the store has grown by leaps and bounds and won numerous national awards. In 2007, the readers of BirdTalk magazine voted us as the Number One favorite bird store in America! In July of 2008, we were chosen by the editors of Pet Product News, the leading pet trade magazine in the nation, as one of the top twelve pet stores (all animals) in North America!
As we have grown, we have had many inquiries from both our California customers who live a bit further away as well as customers from other states who have read about us and wanted to be able to have access to our inventory of specialized products. However, we refused to launch this site until we felt we could do one with the quality our customers have come to expect. We think we’ve done it!
A word about our inventory. First, our inventory is and warehoused away from birds. This is important to protect your flock from dangerous viral diseases. Second, we sell enough volume to allow heavy product turnover. This means the dated product you buy will be fresh with plenty of date left prior to expiration. In addition, many of our lines (such as Kaylor seed and Goldenfeast treats) are nitrogen-flushed, further preserving freshness) Third, we don’t like to order something and hear that it is out of stock, and we don’t think you do either. So we make it a point to stock what we sell. If something is backordered from a manufacturer, we will let you know and get it as soon as we can.

Orders received by received by 10:30 AM will usually be shipped the same day. All other orders will be shipped within 24 hours. Orders received after 10:30 AM Friday will go out the following Monday.

You should allow a MINIMUM OF SEVEN BUSINESS DAYS for receipt (remember, weekends do not count). If your order is being placed during a holiday period it may take longer.
If your bird eats a diet that is only available online we encourage you to order well in advance, or keep a spare bag of food on hand and order when you open the second bag.
This will allow for shipping or weather delays so you don't run out of product! We do offer faster shipping options for those times when you need to get it quicker.

Refund, Returns and Cancellation Policies:
Your satisfaction is guaranteed. Returns are accepted up to 14 days after purchase with the exception of toys or food that are opened. Toys/items without packaging cannot be returned for the safety of everyone's birds. If an item was damaged in shipping, save the packing materials and notify birdStuff. The shipper may need to pick up the packaging in order to issue a credit.
Incomplete Orders: birdStuff takes pride in a high fill rate on orders. If an item from your order is out of stock, you will be contacted to determine whether or not you want your order shipped incomplete.
Methods of Payment include MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal.
Shipping charges are based on actual UPS charges and will be charged in real time.
